- Great for anchors and creating top belay setups Review by Burk
- The D shape of this carabiner is ideal for distributing the load along the axis of the carabiner, making it exceptionally strong. It has a larger strength rating (28kN) than most locking carabiners (~24kN) of the same size and material. I bought it to create a top belay device, but would also use it as an anchor for toproping. It is thicker than other smaller screwgate carabiners (like the Black Diamond Positron screwgate), which inspires confidence for frequent use. It works as a belay device so long as you have an ATC. It does not have the pear shape, which allows for a rope only belay with a Munter-hitch. But, if you are looking for a strong, solid carabiner for setting up anchors, this is a great carabiner.
