Customer Reviews

Strength and durability Review by Burk
The Petzl carabiner is truly an exceptional carabiner. The trend with carabiners is to move towards lighter gear while maintaining strength. However, with the reduction of weight, the carabiners also lose critical mass that is essential to maintaining longevity. The Petzl Spirit not endures rock and rope wear, but the gate continues to be clean and snappy long after other carabiners gunk up or become flimsy. If you are hard on your gear or concerned about taking big falls these are definitely worth the buy. They are 49 grams, which is towards the heavy end, but like I said, the trade off comes in longevity and strength. To my knowledge these are one of the few (perhaps the only) carabiner that offers a 3 year warranty. (Posted on 3/20/12)
