BLACK DIAMOND: Gridlock Screwgate

With its revolutionary, patent-pending design made possible by our in-house hot forge, the Black Diamond GridLock Screwgate eliminates the dangers of cross loading. Designed specifically for belaying, the intuitive, easy-to-use GridLock isolates the belay loop behind its uniquely shaped gate, thereby keeping the carabiner in its proper orientation. The GridLock's I-beam spine transitions into a large, rounded rope-bearing surface for maximum strength and smooth rope feeding. Simply put, you'll never have to deal with a shifting, cross-loaded belay carabiner again.

Customer Reviews

works well to prevent cross loading when belaying Review by John-Paul
This works well to prevent rope cross loading on the gate due to carabiner flipping around when belaying. Downside is that you must unlock and open to remove the belay loop, this could be dangerous in a rescue scenario when you may want to flip the carabiner around without unlocking and opening it. I prefer a spring wire keeper such as on the "rock exotica pirate wire eye", "edelrid HMS strike FG Screw" (what I use most frequently), or the climbing technology HMS screwgate with the same style wire keeper. nice Review by david
Provides that feeling of security. Can tell that it was engineered specifically to meet the needs of those that use this. The craftsmanship is beautiful and I'm a proud owner of this piece. (Posted on 9/20/13)
